Areas of work

We work in the following fields:

  • ICTs and Emerging technologies: including AI, Robotics, drones, and other emerging technologies, as well as free and open source software]. We believe that ICT and Emerging Technology should be based on ethical principles, and principles of human rights.
  • Human rights, gender rights, refugee and minority rights and diversity issues as they relate to technology.
  • Cultural rights and digital inclusiveness: to ensure that the Internet economy reflects the true diversity of language, art, science, and literature in our world .
  • Freedom of expression and censorship issues online: we defend freedom of expression and oppose mandated filtering, facial recognition, censorship of Internet content, and criminalization of content that is protected under international freedom of expression standards.
  • Technology and education: encouraging the use of both physical hardware, software, and educational theoretic to facilitate learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technological processes and resources
  • Privacy and security online: we believe in the right of personal privacy concerning the storing, repurposing, provision to third parties, and displaying of information pertaining to oneself via the internet.
  • Access to knowledge and inclusiveness: we promote access to knowledge in the digital area. Knowledge creates better informed societies and generate better data. Intellectual property rights owes as much to the quest for free and open source software as to public health activism around patents and medicines. We believe in the power of knowledge through ICT to transform economies and societies. We believe in the creation of inclusive knowledge societies that empower local communities by increasing access to and preservation and sharing of information and knowledge.
  • Internet Governance: we believe in the shared principles, norms, rules, decision-making procedures, and activities that shape the evolution and use of the Internet.
  • Net neutrality: we believe in the need to keep the internet free and open — enabling anyone to share and access information of their choosing without interference from major telecommunications companies and corporations.
