Interesting session but I have yet to look into the videos myself. I know I saw that site before and took a look at its main video,   but did not quite get it. Now I think I understand more what that is all about. It integrates text, images, video and support resources to tell a story and demonstrate \u2018how to\u2019; integrates faculty, student, and faculty development perspectives to communicate educational and personal impact; stories are focused on a set of themes from a range of disciplines [so that faculty development people could use these]. <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What really are the challenges that faculty face? How are students affected by it?<\/p>\n<p>ELIXIR case story themes: academic integrity, 1<sup>st<\/sup> day of classes, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How are they made? <\/strong>Case story teams can include a faculty developer, a media producer, an instructional designer, and a project director:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A subject for the case is      selected<\/li>\n<li>A case scenario is      developed and reviewed<\/li>\n<li>Faculty and student      interviews are conducted<\/li>\n<li>Classroom and other      illustrative footage is shot<\/li>\n<li>Video footage review and      editing<\/li>\n<li>Formative review and      feedback with web review page<\/li>\n<li>Assembly of presentation      with Pachyderm<\/li>\n<li>Revisions and release<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The theme leader coordinates and guides the case stories developed with that theme. Some teams may do storyboarding and some may not.<\/p>\n<p>Website is at <a href=\"http:\/\/elixr.merlot.org\/\">http:\/\/elixr.merlot.org\/<\/a> He showed the video: <a href=\"http:\/\/pachyderm.cdl.edu\/elixr-stories\/tcd-business-math\/\">http:\/\/pachyderm.cdl.edu\/elixr-stories\/tcd-business-math\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The cases are available for anyone to use.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Case story use for faculty development: the cases can be used<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As a component of a F2F      workshop eg. Course transformation<\/li>\n<li>As a lead-in or follow-up      to a F2F session eg. Knowledge surverys<\/li>\n<li>As a component of faculty      learning community process eg. Universal Design for Learning<\/li>\n<li>As part of new faculty      orientation: eg. First Day of Class [how do you show teachers how to make      students excited on that first day about coming back the following week]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Faculty learning communities in higher education: another video on Merlot ELIXIR. We have interviews there with faculty etc. Faculty members sharing their course and getting feedback from peers.<\/p>\n<p>Can other faculty make comments on those videos? This is something they will look at. There is a user-testing form that you can fill out so you can make suggestions about the project.<\/p>\n<p>Look at the resources section in the ELIXIR on Merlot.<\/p>\n<p>In the end he showed some very positive stats on the use of this project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lessons learned:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2018how to\u2019 is as important      as \u2018why\u2019 in a good case story<\/li>\n<li>Formative review during      case story development is critical<\/li>\n<li>Short clips with efficient      narrative are preferred \u2013 1-3 min<\/li>\n<li>Support resources provide      needed detail for implementation \u2013 handouts, guides, repots, links]<\/li>\n<li>Student voice and \u2018B Roll\u2019      adds credibility and dimension<\/li>\n<li>Usability of authoring      tool and published presentation is critical<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Closure:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Invitation to use our case      stories<\/li>\n<li>Invitation to make your      own<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I attended another digital storytelling session.
