Some of them I was using already but many are new to me. 101 Great sites for social studies classes. It is more than just social studies classes. They are found<a href=\"http:\/\/www.findingdulcinea.com\/news\/education\/2010\/march\/101-Great-Sites-for-Social-Studies.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> here<\/a> Some of those I really liked that I had not used before are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archives.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The National Archives and Records Administration<\/a><\/strong> has a massive collection of material on U.S. history that can sometimes be overwhelming to search through. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archives.gov\/education\/history-day\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Resources for National History Day Research<\/a> page guides students on where to find material in the archives.<\/li>\n<li><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.si.edu\/Encyclopedia_SI\/History_and_Culture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Smithsonian Institution<\/a><\/strong> has a wide variety of exhibitions and collections on American history and culture. It also offers <a href=\"http:\/\/historyexplorer.americanhistory.si.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lesson plans<\/a> searchable by grade level, type of resource and historical topic.<\/li>\n<li><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archives.gov\/exhibits\/charters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The National Archives\u2019 Charters of Freedom<\/a><\/strong> explains the making of and impact of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights. It includes images of the documents, biographies of the framers, and fun facts&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<!--more--><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/news.google.com\/archivesearch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Google News Archive<\/a><\/strong> searches historical newspapers, most of which cannot be found elsewhere in Google. A student studying the rise of Adolph Hitler could review <a href=\"http:\/\/news.google.com\/archivesearch?as_user_ldate=1933&amp;as_user_hdate=1937&amp;q=hitler&amp;scoring=a&amp;q=hitler&amp;lnav=od&amp;btnG=Go\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">these newspaper results from 1933 to 1937<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/time\/magazine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Time magazine<\/a><\/strong> provides users with access to its impressive article archive dating back to 1923, enabling students to search for articles such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/time\/magazine\/article\/0,9171,741240,00.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this account of negotiations<\/a> in 1931 between Winston Churchill and Mahatma Gandhi, who is described in a rather deprecatory manner.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/archive.timesonline.co.uk\/tol\/archive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Times of London<\/a><\/strong> organizes its archives through topics such as War &amp; Revolution, Politics &amp; Civil Rights, and Exploration.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/ref\/membercenter\/nytarchive.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a><\/strong> offers free articles dating from 1851-1922 and 1987-present.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/raglinen.com\/collections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rag Linen<\/a><\/strong> is an online museum and educational archive of rare and historic printed newspapers.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulib.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carnegie Mellon University\u2019s Universal Digital Library<\/a><\/strong> holds more than 1 million works from many different fields in a dozen languages.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bl.uk\/onlinegallery\/virtualbooks\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The British Library<\/a><\/strong> lets you browse through scanned books of music, literature, art and other subjects. The library includes Mozart\u2019s sheet music, \u201cAlice\u2019s Adventures Under Ground\u201d by Lewis Carroll, an 18th century Ethiopian bible and many more.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.perseus.tufts.edu\/hopper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tufts University\u2019s Perseus Digital Library<\/a><\/strong> is the best source for Greek and Latin texts, as well as Germanic texts and Renaissance works.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/librivox.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Librivox<\/a><\/strong> offers text and audio recordings of more than 3,000 public domain books and other works.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.history.army.mil\/html\/bookshelves\/resmat\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The U.S. Army Center of Military History<\/a><\/strong> provides in-depth accounts of U.S. military operations from a variety of military sources, including \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.history.army.mil\/books\/AMH-V1\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Military History, Volume 1<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.history.army.mil\/books\/AMH-V2\/AMH%20V2\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Volume II.<\/a>\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gwu.edu\/%7Ensarchiv\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The National Security Archive<\/a><\/strong> is an independent institute located at The George Washington University that presents documents to the public after they have been declassified by the government.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.historyanimated.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">History Animated<\/a><\/strong> provides easy-to-follow animations of key battles in the Revolutionary War, Civil War and Pacific theatre of World War II, with a short description of each battle.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.itd.nps.gov\/cwss\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The National Parks Service\u2019s Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System<\/a><\/strong> is a database that makes it easy to find personal records Civil War soldiers, sailors, prisoners and regiments.<\/li>\n<li><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/thwt.org\/tomslessons.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teaching History with Technology<\/a><\/strong> offers a wealth of resources for incorporating the Internet into the history curriculum, including these innovative projects.<\/li>\n<li><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newseum.org\/todaysfrontpages\/default.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Newseum<\/a><\/strong> provides a look at today\u2019s front page of 827 newspapers in 77 countries, giving students the chance to see how differently news is covered from city to city and country to country.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/interactive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Guardian\u2019s Interactive Guides<\/a><\/strong> give interactive overviews of significant issues occurring in the world today.<\/li>\n<li><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loc.gov\/pictures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Library of Congress\u2019s Prints &amp; Photographs Online Catalog<\/a><\/strong> has dozens of collections of photographs, illustrations, posters and other images.
