Virtual Activism attended the 62nd session on women in NY, 2018.
- The Priority theme was: Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls;
- The Review theme: Participation in and access of women to the media, and information and communications technologies and their impact on and use as an instrument for the advancement and empowerment of women (agreed conclusions of the forty-seventh session).
Outcomes
The Commission adopted agreed conclusions on “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls” on 23 March 2018.CSW62 agreed conclusions.
Resolutions
The Commission on the Status of Women adopted the following resolutions:
- a resolution on the “Situation of and assistance to Palestinian women”, for action by the Economic and Social Council
- a resolution on “Release of women and children taken hostage, including those subsequently imprisoned, in armed conflicts”, without a vote
- a resolution on “Women, the girl child and HIV and AIDS”, without a vote
- a resolution on “Future organization and methods of work of the Commission on the Status of Women”, for action by the Economic and Social Council
- a resolution on the “Twenty-fifth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women”, for action by the Economic and Social Council
